Getting out of company Christmas party
I need quality excuses for getting out of a company Christmas party tonight. I can't even describe how much I DON'T want to go...

Why do you need an excuse? Just say no..
I already said I'd go though. There wasn't really an option...
Have to go home early for the holiday
20 days early? That probably only flies in accounting.
Slam your face against the wall a few times and just show up to work the next day and let them know you were mugged on the way to the party. Or say the POTUS called and needed you to dog sit. Or just say you have plans and cant make the party.
Go for one drink and leave, that's what most people do anyway.
My thoughts exactly, who turns down free booze?
My first company Christmas party out of college I skipped--I genuinely didn't think anyone cared. My bosses boss--who never talked to me and who I wasn't even sure knew my name--reprimanded me verbally for not attending. I survived the first round of layoffs in April but was laid off in May...
It was the type of party we had to RSVP to a while back. We're eating at a fine restaurant downtown, and my co-workers said last year everyone stayed for 3+ hours. There will be almost 30 people there (and yes, they'd realize if I wasn't there!)
I'm only 22 and literally almost everyone there will be in their 40's and 50's. Awkward as HELL!!
I'm in the same situation man. I'm hoping people actually drink so at least I can get a little drunk without being too conspicuous. You could say that your parents are in town and you'll have to cut out early to meet up with them? Just say you can't stay for dinner, just a drink. That way it sounds like you tried at least.
Sounds like you have to go.
Go, eat some good food, have a few drinks, tell a few jokes and then pull and irish goodbye.
Irish goodbyes = the best
Are you guys social handicapped or something? Just because they are 40 doesn't mean they don't watch football, shoot the shit, and enjoy getting tipsy. The coolest guy i work with is 52, we talk about golf all day.
This x10000
Exactly, this might also be one of the times you see some of the older guys let loose.
Go, and buy rounds of shots for everyone before the food comes. They will love you even if you leave after 30 min.
If you don't change your attitude in terms of socializing with people older than you, you're in serious trouble. Do you think people want guys in the firm who don't want to escape Excel for three hours for good food and alcohol?
To echo some of the previous posts, you should really reconsider going. Not only will you probably get a pretty good meal and possibly some booze on the company's tab, but you will have a chance at talking to your colleagues in a non-work setting which is a huge opportunity for relationship-building. Also, middle-aged people are still potentially cool people, this will only be awkward if you make it awkward. As an example, last year when I was 20, I had a few drinks with a middle-aged senior guy at the company xmas party. He is now actively helping me in my career transition which is a huge advantage.
I always hate the thought of holiday parties too but usually end up having a pretty good time at them. It's actually pretty important from a career perspective to show you're a human being and not Charles Manson, but I guess depends on how long you plan to stay at the company.
