Getting shafted by my VP and MD

Hi all

Work in capital markets - analysing markets and prospective IPOs etc. Fresh out of university at 22. Been here for 1 year and I am the only junior in the team (asides from our PA).

6 months in, I was beginning to progress responsibilities, which majority of my team were giving positive feedback.

New female joins as a junior with 4 years audit experience. Suddenly, the head (MD) cut my development off, so that they can focus on bringing the new joiner up to speed. This means that often I spend the majority of my day staring at Bloomberg; given that everyone has been told not to give me any important work.

I asked my immediate boss (VP level) as to whether I can return to developing in my role. She replied defensively with the view that my role is that of support only and my job description does not state I will be doing XYZ (even though it does!!!).

I have consistently performed positively and I am touted by directors/other VP’s as the best junior to ever join the team. So I don’t think my ability is the question.

Much rather it seems that I am the subject of a targeted attack by the MD and VP (both control freak females), with my VP feeding the MD bad feedback about me.

This wouldn’t surprise me given that I am often pulled onto the floor and shouted at in front of everyone by the MD (for no reason of my fault, which the rest of the team knows).

Not sure what to do. I can’t move elsewhere given that I have barely any substantial experience. Should I just grind this out in silence while studying for my CFA?

In short; my line manager has cut off my development for no reason.
