Not going to lie. I didn’t know there was discrimination against veterans or what they’d be discriminated against.

Appreciate having this insight though.

And yet walk onto the floor of any IB / PE / HF / etc group and most people are white or asian males lmfao

"I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse."

Have been in recruiting meetings and the standards go completely out the window with HBCUs or black students from other schools

It's also a leadership imperative to promote anyone but white males as freqeuntly as possible for every F500 I've worked for

I've also seen men made fun of by women in ways that would not be remotely acceptable if the genders were reversed. In meetings where women directors talking about a shorter guy in the office having to shop for suits in the womens section as a joke, complaining about 'man flu' when guys dont go to office, 'manspread', 'mansplain', etc. pressuring men to join employee resource groups and take seminars on gender equality as a performance objective meaning if they dont it harms career progression

I'm not going to argue the tenets of DE&I as part of larger orgs. But I have found in my experiece that those who scream the most from the rooftops on it's importance, or the ones who every week talk about 'unconcious bias' training and other such materials - are usually some of the most bigoted people I've met. For two reasons:

1. They already boil down someones life to gender, religion, sexual orientation, race, & nothing more. They hyper focus on those traits so that is the only way they define people. It is all they see when meeting people, which is sad. Because while those are all groups we inherently belong to - there are thousands of other 'tribes' that make up the human condition. Get to know people and you will learn how unique we really are

2. Because of all of the books theyve read, podcasts theyve listened to, lectures theyve gone to, etc. on these subjects they view themselves almost as pious and infallible, and thus are completly unlikely to reflect on any of their positions unless doing so puts them at a victimhood advantage. In short, they have blinders.

Of course. Humans make for terrible people. Sexism, ageism, attempts at cloaked racism, also seen the discrimination against disabled vets, attempts to set people up to fail for any of those reasons, etc. It usually goes only one of two ways: the person discriminated against decides to just eat it and says nothing, or the perpetrator gets caught with their hand in the jar, again, (it's never just a one-off for these folks) and all hell breaks loose. On everyone. Can't stand these jagoffs for their behavior in the first place, but then make me suffer for their indiscretions? Because HR isn't there to protect you, they're there to protect the company.
