How important is it to have good dental alignment?

I never got braces because I did not need them for functional purposes (I already had wisdom teeth when I was 12), and I refused to get them when my parents offered because I was as cheap as Scrooge back then.

Important for what? This is a banking forum, not your local dentist's chair.

Everything

Wow, everything, well this could take a while, so I've taken the liberty to choose the most relevant: Modelling, not at all; Wiping one's bottom, not at all; Eating apples, important; Being an intelligent employee, not at all; Tarot card reading, slightly; Zoo keeper, only important when fronting up to gorillas (gorillas respect orthodontic prowess); Eating sandwiches, important.

If they are distractingly bad, then you might not end up a great person for sales.

But considering London is a huge hub for banking and British people aren't exactly known for their teeth, you should be fine. If your dental alignment is the biggest problem you face....you're fine.

Or if you are in the US, as long as you are not morbidly obese and can spell your own name; you should be just fine... Teeth or no teeth, you'll be ahead of 99% of the population!

It has nothing to do with banking, but I would have a personal problem with not having straight teeth. Women tend to avoid guys who look like they chew rocks for a living.

If you're worried about getting braces, get veneers or the braces that go behind your teeth. I don't know how your teeth look, but it can't hurt to have straight teeth.

Wow! I'm surprised how many famous people have bad teeth.

Bro. Do EVERYTHING you can do to improve/maintain your looks no matter how small the effect it has. Looks are extremely important in shaping how people perceive you.

Superficialities play an almost irreplaceable role in how people perceive you. Just go to a bar one day and look around. Who are the guys who are the leaders in their individual groups ? Mostly the guys with strong chins/jaws. Beyond just social relationships one's looks has been shown to be in direct proportion to one's success, other things being equal. CEOs on average have above average chin strength. There's a reason why almost all US presidents have been above average in looks, why the taller candidate tends to win, why the guy with the stronger chin tends to win and so on.

It is even more important where a large part of your job is in dealing with people. People, for whatever reason, just correlate looks with competency. This is not to say you cannot become successful otherwise but I think it's important to give yourself as many bonus points as possible in life.
