How long is this first year gonna feel?

I hate my team. Industry coverage is okay, but my team his horrible culture at junior level. No one cares to teach, but expect greatness.

Already been yelled at for stupid reasons, honestly just realized in under 3mo that I don’t want to do this. I could switch groups, banks, or careers, I don’t care.

For family reasons, I can’t afford to miss a paycheck until the summer (~2mo pre bonus) so recruiting isn’t even an option.

For a sweaty group like this, constant 9-2ams, weekend work? Etc, how long is this year gonna feel if I’m just waiting for the summer to leave?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, enduring a toxic team culture combined with grueling hours (9 AM to 2 AM with weekend work) can make even a few months feel like an eternity. Many users in similar situations have described the experience as mentally and physically draining, with time dragging on due to the lack of support, high expectations, and constant stress.

If you're waiting until summer (~2 months pre-bonus) to leave, here are some tips to help you survive the remaining time:

  1. Focus on the End Goal: Keep reminding yourself that this is temporary and you have a clear exit plan. Visualizing the finish line can help you push through.

  2. Coast Where Possible: As suggested in some WSO threads, try to "coast" a bit—respond slower to emails, avoid overextending yourself, and focus on preserving your mental health. This can help reduce stress without jeopardizing your role.

  3. Find Small Wins: Even in a tough environment, look for small victories—whether it's completing a task well, learning a new skill, or simply making it through another week.

  4. Lean on Support Systems: If possible, talk to friends, family, or mentors outside of work. Venting and seeking advice can help you process your frustrations.

  5. Prioritize Self-Care: Even with limited time, try to squeeze in activities that recharge you—whether it's a quick workout, a short walk, or a few minutes of mindfulness.

Remember, you're not alone in feeling this way. Many professionals in high-stress finance roles have faced similar challenges, and the key is to focus on your long-term goals while managing the short-term pain.
