How many of you guys wear make up?

How many men on here wear make-up? I don't know if I should put a little bit on. Not drag queen type but just a little to touch up. Do you guys think it'll be acceptable for a man to wear make-up at the office? I'm not trolling btw I'm actually curious.

Nobody will look at your skin and think that you are less competent because you have a pimple or mole. If you are really insecure about your face, then start to create good habits. Try to work out/go to the gym, buy a couple of weights that you can use during pointless meetings that don't have substance. Eat healthy foods, and eliminate the junk in your life. No soda, only water. Maximise your macros and while you don't have to go crazy with tracking, you should have a clear idea of what you are putting into your mouth.

Establish a proper shaving routine. (Check out reddit.com/r/wickededge if you want direct shaving info, it's a great community). Moisturise with thick Vitamin E lotions, use specific bio-oils just before you go to sleep (wash off in the morning). Consistently use suncream (high SPFs 30+), especially in the summer (we're expecting another record-breaking year). Wear sunglasses regularly if you have to go out to protect your eyes from the sun, and make sure you have blue light filters applied to any prescription glasses, in-bedded filters, or screen protectors for electronic devices.

Make-up is excessive in my opinion and has historically been used to maximize your sexual marketplace value, a tiny bit of concealer will probably go unnoticed, but it may hurt you in the long run as make-up leads to acne and skin problems down the line - look at any woman who uses copious amounts of make-up regularly, you can practically see the bumps sticking through the concealer regrettably.

"No one will look at your height and think that you are less competent"

"No one will look at your facial symmetry and think you are less competent"

"No one will look at your skin color and think you are less competent"

You would think so... but all of the evidence currently available indicates that all of the above matter, even in strictly white collar jobs

No the only people that care about that stuff usually are those that are highly insecure and analyze every little thing. Unfortunately that is the norm for most people in high finance, consulting, big law because they are cesspools of people filled with insecurity and always compare their lives to others instead of comparing themselves to who they used to be. A lot of bankers have an inferiority complex and I honest to god don't know why but I blame it on Wall Street/White Collar culture. When most of your basic needs are met your brain starts making up problems for you to be upset about.

Id recommend against blue light glasses. Blue light is critical for stimulating your eyes and keeping you up on long nights. Long-term blue light damage is pretty much nonexistent.

I use concealer for the dark circles under my eyes, its fucking annoying to have people always ask if im tired. Im not tired motherfucker I have thin skin under my eyes.

No one is going to care if you wear a little concealer to cover up a blemish but a full make up routine is something different.  It could hurt you    socially and eventually at work. You are not an anchor on CNBC.

I usually just put an ice pack on in the morning if my face is a little puffy.  Also, make sure to use an aftershave w/ little or no alcohol.

I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young, they bring you up to do like your daddy done

Hey man, don't do it. As someone who dealt with a stupid amount of adult acne my first year in banking (never having had it my entire life), just own it and be confident in your own skin. Putting on concealer with big pimples is not only going to make it painfully obvious you have acne but will also make people say "what the fuck??" when they realize you have makeup on. When I had it, I just tried a bunch of different treatments until I found one that worked and one day, it all went away. And that is likely what will happen with you. I know it sucks but power through it and own it. It's really hard especially during a flare-up but you just gotta act like it isn't there and make sure your habits are skin-healthy. It will stop I assure you.

Geez, feels like some of the responses in this thread come from people desperately trying to hang on to some 80's/90's masculine stereo type finance culture where ignorance and skewed sense of gender roles prevail. We're in 2021, catch up and grow some confidence in yourselves instead of trying to show how masculine you are by calling self care stupid.

In response to OP - I feel as long as you do it well, there is zero problems. Obviously make sure your skincare and diet etc is on point, but a little enhancement here and there never hurts. My complexion is a little uneven with some red-ish parts in my face and I don't mind evening that out, especially for like photo-heavy events like weddings etc.

But the key here is less is more - make sure you know how to use the products, talk to a gf/ makeup-wearing friend, or a MUA or something to figure out what works for your skin.

The picture posted above is a great example.
