Haha, that's about what I'd expect to hear of monty!

Yea, I'd have no problem meeting up with people I've shot the shit with on WSO. Worst case scenario is the guys a piece of shit, and you just ignore him from then on. Best case scenario, you've built your network just that extra little bit.

Time to sound stupid but what do you do when you meet them... Just talk about the market..?

It's what you put into it

HFFBALLfan123No, usually talk about DCF's, spreading comps, neat stuff like that. Then we rank banks and groups on a napkin and compare.

It's the nature of the beast, really. The OP will learn to become like this, eventually.

I've met a lot of WSO members in real life (Energy Rodeo) and also talked with several on the phone. I've found most people to be chill, nice guys.

Just shoot the shit dude. If you're interested in what they're doing, ask them about it. Nobody is going to be like, "oh I don't want to talk about work." Or school or whatever. Just don't be an ass, and if the discussion moves to a different topic, so be it.

ANTI usually drink beer and talk about non finance stuff.

And rant. A lot.

I can confirm that Ant rants a lot...but so do I.

ANT doesnt rant, he informs.

Even more than the site!? Haha, you know I'm just joking. I would love to hear you go-off after a few beers... Can we all meet up for beers and get ANT debating politics with some WSO liberal?

I would honestly pay for the drinks, just to see that. What bars in NYC will let an 18 year old in? I'm a suburbanite. I'll grow a mustache if it will make things easier.

Ant doesn't rant, he preaches. Regardless of what you call it though, he does a lot of it haha. Good afternoon though, even if Septa's weekend coverage is shitty.
I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

What does the OP mean by "or more"? This is a boy's club, not a great place to pick up girls. Then again, a WSO hook-up is bound to happen ("where the female bankers at?") sometime.

looking for that pick-me-up to power through an all-nighter?

OP = Original Poster and maybe I will have to put up my scandalous pictures to get some women talking. I need some relief in Houston!! :)

It's what you put into it

HFFBALLfan123He wasn't asking what OP means you dipshit......

Ohh. Thanks jackass. Glad you could help a brother out

It's what you put into it

So pretty much be ready for one of two things:

Rant on state of the union

or

Patrick getting wasted, dancing on a bar, yelling BANKERS GONE WILD WOOOO!!!

If your nervous about meeting someone from WSO go and shoot shit, literally go get some guns and shoot stuff. That way if the conversation hits a low point you can just turn around and squeeze of some rounds in frustration.

I have slept in the "home" of a member of WSO....thanks for the couch.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Was this "home" a cardboard box? If not, the quotations probably arent necessary :-p

I'd probably turn a perfectly good networking opportunity into a drunken debauchery, but that's just me.

Nothing wrong with that, at least as long as it's Patrick you're with haha

I just had dinner with a guy from WSO tonight and he didn't try to rape me or anything.

rbkchoiWhat is the age range on WSO??

I would say 18-28, with a heavier weighting towards lower 20's.

HFFBALLfan123It still blows my mind that 18 year olds would be on this site... just mind boggling.

I've been reading information on and off from this site since I was 16. I didn't make an account, until I was 18. I guess that's what happens when you live in an upper middle class suburb, but come from a relatively poor immediate family.

Is there ever any WSO meet ups in NYC? i'm moving out there in a month or so for an internship and it'd be nice to meet some people from this site.

Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis - when I was dead broke man I couldn't picture this

I would much rather meet people who aren't like me. Chances are that everyone on this site has a similar type-a personality. Im sick of type-a, i want to meet some type-b dorks who will cover my bartab and ask me how the sex was when their gf cheats on them with me.

And chances are if you do get a call from someone on this site its an undergrad trying to "network". God i hate that word, its jibberish and only serves as an alternative for the words; begging, kissing a ss, sucking up, being try-hard, hungry (not always bad, but it is in this context), etc...

This site serves as a distraction from work, not a cool new way to make buddies.

Hello sir I would like to take this opportunity to network with you. I believe this can be mutually beneficial.

Now, it just sounds like you're trying to rape somebody. That's NOT smart networking!

The big problem with your plan is that people who aren't like you probably wouldn't want to have anything to do with you...

I've met with a few people on the site. I generally only meet with graduates and try to meet with people in the industry already. There are enough bankers in the world -- students don't need to meet with an "ex-banker" !
