Is it just the current Economy or is the Sacramento area lacking in opportunity
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Sacramento job market. Indeed is coming up very short. I'm setting myself up to become a credit guy and this is short-term, but I prefer it not to be.
Sacramento is cool to visit for historical purposes but sounds absolutely awful to live in.
San Francisco is not my type of area but has a lot more jobs. Why are you picking Sacramento? Just curious.
The Job market isn't hot and if I moved there I was wondering what kind of ops existed. All roads lead be down to SoCal though eventually.
CalPERS and CalSTRS are both based there and have massive assets, probably some ok opportunities at both but idk if either have direct investing teams or if it’s just placement.

Without getting into any self-identifying detail, why did you end up leaving? Did you overall like your experience? Below market pay anywhere in CA sucks, though Sacramento isn't as bad as the Bay but probably not that much worse, and bureaucracy is annoying.

Work life balance... pension... Direct Investments teams..... count me in " INVESTMENT ANALYSISMEANS1.Industry research to identify and forecast investment trends and investment opportunities.2.Quantitative analysis of securities to identify credit worthiness of the company or investment project or investment type (equities, stocks, mortgages, bonds, real estate investment projects, derivatives, hedge funds, etc.) or for evaluation of the performance of corporate decision makers (corporate governance), or developing investment models, while working for an employer which has a major investment program. "
I don't have that kind of experience in anything related to equity or investments of any sort. I'm trying to explore credit right now as it seems more "reasonable" to evaluate a companies ability to repay and to price that risk than to try to predict share prices. I'm still a total amateur in all of this though.
Just go 30min-1hr south to SF and the peninsula.... tons of jobs out there even during COVID. Decided to change jobs and landed 4 offers even in this environment, tons of hiring still.
that's an option too. But I'll probably live like a peasant and won't be able to buy a home.
