Made a small mistake when I was younger. Need advice…

Growing up as a child, I have always strived for something more given that I came from a less than favorable socioeconomic background.

Coming from that background, you become accustomed to a certain way of life. A culture, if you will, a culture that shapes your decisions in more ways than you can possibly imagine. Marred by gang violence and criminal activity, the only way out is to leave a piece of you behind.

These streets were tough and when I say tough, I mean tough. At times, the only way to survive is to play the game. So that's what I did.

At the age of 15, I was initiated into a gang. Jumped in at a young age so that I could continue going to school and focus on getting straight A's without having to worry about getting robbed, stabbed or beaten.

It seemed like such a smart decision at the time. I still have a squeaky clean record despite at times slinging dope on street corners to maintain that privilege. Never got too, too violent with anybody and was almost caught a few times but luckily I was able to get away without raising suspicions. Needless to say, a criminal record is definitely not a problem given it’s nonexistent.

I used my earnings from this time to fully fund my education. I’m trying to break into investment banking but like creditors after a company has filed bankruptcy, my former gang leaders have found me and demand that I pay up. Pay up in what way? Pay up with my life.

Either continue working for them for the rest of my life or they’ll put lead in me like I’m a mechanical pencil (their words not mine) to end my life.

I’m looking for advice on what I should do. I can’t go to the cops because some are on payroll and the group is too big to fail. Also snitches get stitches and I’ve been brainwashed into believing doing so would disgrace my entire family.

I really don’t know what to do. Any advice would be great…

Never Happened.
