Most Fulfilling Jobs In Finance?

I was thinking restructuring on the debtor side could be fulfilling, emerging market infra PE could also lead to fulfillment when it comes to certain projects such as developing roads in rural areas. Renewables coverage etc etc.

Can you guys think of other potential examples that you would find fulfilling. Not factoring prestige or exit ops into this discussion, rather long-term fulfillment from the outcomes of the work.

Something along the lines of infra or energy-related work could be interesting, as could development finance and micro-lending. Working at a pension fund could be fulfilling too since you're ensuring old timers have funds to go on cruises with.

Alternatively you could do the effective altruism thing and make a boatload of money chopping down the rainforest or getting oil out of the tar sands whatever and then donating it all to charity.

I would suggest you read my post on Effective Altruism and see what you think. Might help in this instance.

What’s motivating some of these picks? Debtor Rx is more fulfilling than Creditor RX? I suppose if you see it as the underdog getting out from under the thumb of the big guy, sure. But what about honesty and keeping promises? Isn’t that the goal of creditor RX? Keeping people honest? If you truly believe one is more moral than the other, I question whether you believe in the underlying morality of finance in general.
