My Percentage chance of breaking into IB or S&T and Advice

First time post here not sure if this is the right area to post in my mistake in advance. Hoping to learn as much as I can in my time here to prepare for the future. A little bit of backstory I'm 23 from a minority background. I fucked around my first year and a half at university more so after my mother's untimely death. It's been 5 years since I graduated high school and 4 that I've been out of school. I've worked extensive hours 65+ at menial jobs to pay back the debt I owed my school, to start over at a community college and go from there. I'm shooting to go back to school this fall only with the idea of excelling, obviously that'd be the only way to break into such a competitive field. I'm in New York City so my options for finishing my degree are NYU as a transfer (if i can get enough scholarships) or something more affordable like Baruch(not a target). While I'm still figuring out what I want to do and why, I know it's IB or trading. I've always been fascinated with the sell side of corporations and businesses and have a little background in the financial markets. I I guess my question is, lets say I excel in the next four years of my life, what are my chances of breaking into IB or trading. I feel like the older I get the harder it's going to be. I'll be approximately 27 when it's all said and done and finishing my degree at a target school is a reach. Excelling at school won't be the hardest thing I think I can do it. I can also network really hard and shoot for internships, but is it too late for me? what would you do in my position at 23?

to get the best chance at IB in NYC if you want to stay there would be to try to transfer to Stern. But this is near impossible as a transfer, but if you can pull it off, that would give you a decent shot.

Yeah if you can get into Stern - get as many loans as possible. Don't go to Baruch.
