Only $50k to be a New York Times Best Selling Author?

I just read on Twitter you can buy your way onto the NY Times Best Seller list for $50k. That seems pretty cheap. My question becomes, how can this be used to make money/advance career? Dropping $50k for prestige makes no sense. But can this be parlayed into money making things? Speaking gigs, etc.

That is definitely a play. I think it would be tough to recoup $50k on book sales by being on the NY Times best seller list for a week.

I think you pay an agency to buy tons of your books. Or just buy the books yourself. Google is saying ~7500 books need to be sold in a week to make the list.

And why are we just assuming that a random person on X actually knows what they're talking about?

"I read on X that there is one simple trick to a bigger penis, Zelle me $50,000 and I'll share it with you!"  Doubt you're falling for that one, so why is this post so acceptable?

Haha obviously I don't know for sure. But this one sounds pretty plausible to me. The Twitter dude wasn't selling anything, and I've seen tons of people online say the NY Times and similar lists can be bought. If Google is saying you need to sell 7500 books in a week, I guess that would probably cost more than $50k. But not by much.
