Pet Python

So HR cleared my request for a pet reptile in my office. Craigslist has a bunch of free snakes presuming you buy the terrarium for it's home. Does anyone have experience handling Burmese Pythons and wish to share their tales? I had a Ball Python for many years until my sally landlord made me get rid of it with threats of eviction. Has anyone had an exotic pet at the office?

ahh, the python: the status symbol of choice in South Africa and Lebanon

Yea. Burmese python. Named him Hook as a speck of skin hung over its eye one time after shedding (ie Captain Hook).

Serpents are fun, intriguing to watch, and don’t need the attention that dogs/cats need.

On my mobile, but here are a few answers.

  1. Satellite office of a big liberal organization. One of the SVPs had a therapy dog that was approved. This little runt was a pathetic excuse for mans best friend. It could have fit in his man bag. HR accepted this request, so I rolled the dice on a therapy reptile and terrarium.
  1. There were no more than 30 people in this satellite office. HR was the epitome of liberal and therapy comfort items. She had these fountains in her office to comfort her with running water white noise.
  1. I pounced with my snake idea. I’ve handled a lot of snakes in my day being the son of a science teacher. It’s somewhat simple for a snake to get comfortable, trained, if you handle it from an early age. Instincts are always there, but not as sharpened if they rely on you for a source of food. Basically I said the snake would be there for a few months tops. They Okayed the idea.

But I got laid off. So the snake never made it to the office. The snake I kept at my home, while a nice pet, just died suddenly.
