Potatoes are Paradise

bro, how good are fries? What about potato broccoli cheddar soup? Unstoppable. Loaded baked potatoes? Incredible. You can't have a good Shepherd's Pie without potatoes. Kettle cooked chips? So good. Who can stop the spud?

been off WSO for a bit (not cuz of mods but doing a short-term social media cleanse), logged back in just to comment that as an Eastern European descendant, potatoes are indeed paradise:

  • fries (MCD's are the gold standard imo, shoestring fries are occasionally good, wedges are great too, CFA's iconic waffle fries)
  • potato pancakes aka latkes
  • scalloped potatoes
  • potato noodles (kopytka/kluski kartoflane are god tier, as are Silesian dumplings)
  • potato vodka (goes without saying, I like Chopin and Belvedere as well as others)
  • Ruthenian pierogi
  • as a side dish with onions also served with pickled herring while you shoot some good Polish vodka
  • jarzynowa salad (if egg salad and potato salad had a baby)

The list is endless. I really want potatoes now.

Ahh potato vodka. Every polish person I know, myself included, always has an extra bottle of Chopin or Luksusowa in the freezer

I thought proper Vodka is potato based in the first place? Grain alcohol is just Everclear, not Vodka. Or double brewed beer that turns into scotch whiskey (the naming changes depending on where you are folks).

Potatoes Fondant is an orgasm in your mouth

Love a good corn beef hash with crispy diced potatoes mixed in

Fries are the bomb

They are the swiss army knife of starches

Don't forget gnocchi.

I covered that earlier, don't worry. We share the same goal here.

Clam chowder with potatoes is good too. So good on a cold day.
