Self-Serving LinkedIn Spam

Saw someone who just left a Big 4 job post a live spreadsheet on LinkedIn today that shows what jobs they have applied for and asked everyone he knew to analyze it and contribute to it any and all connections they have that would be able to find him a job or recommend him for one. He then proceeds to talk about how he wanted to make it easier for his LinkedIn family to help him.

The post contains language such as "suggest roles for me that I may interested in/a good fit for me" and "fill in the names of those in your network that will be able to put in a referral for me".

Is it just me or is this behavior extremely selfish, desperate, and off-putting? If you want someone else to do the work of finding a job for you why not just contact a recruiter instead of spamming your friends? Can we stop with masturbatory self-serving LinkedIn posts? Why would a company want to hire someone who won't even do their own legwork to find a job.

LinkedIn culture has become extremely masturbatory under the guise of professional networking and frankly its annoying to look at.

Anyone else seeing this, have examples of people using LinkedIn to pat themselves on the back?

Edit: I'm about to fill out this man's spreadsheet with hilariously awful jobs. 20 SBs and I post the link

LinkedIn is the fucking worst dude. Stay off that site unless you need to update your job or education. It has become such a cesspool that I hardly go on anymore, and when I do, I see the type of people you're talking about. It absolutely is off-putting, selfish, and frankly embarrassing. I haven't taken LinkedIn seriously in the last 3 years as it continues to be more of a social media site.

I mean if I have to read one more long winded paragraph that probably covered nothing of substance, ending with a "agree or disagree?" I will break my laptop against my face.

LinkedIn's worst feature is that any activity - like, comment - is instantly broadcast to one's fucking whole network. Just offer a like to a friend's post and bam, every contact of yours gets to see the post pop up on his feed.

One thing I do is unfollow massively all my contacts and only follow those I want to hear about

Linkedin is a complete waste of time for me but that might be because I am older than your average monkey. I have had a linked in account for about 10 years and I have generated sales of about $200 over that time period. I must get a linkedin request every other day from someone who I do not know and may not even work in the same industry. Sometimes, they request to connect in order to get help with an exam but even these people do not usually take the next step. It is frustrating. I guess the only benefit for me is having my name out there for credibility.

LinkedIn is filled with spam from losers who think they’re too evolved for Facebook, just like the morons on Quora who scoff at the folks using Yahoo Answers or MBTI zealots who don’t realize that it’s just astrology for people who can read

Here you are just preaching to the choir because we all hate linkedin for hundreds of reasons but just like human-trafficking, if someone is doing something horrible it must be because they are getting something out of it.

Just what kind of irreparably damaged and twisted human being would see these kinds of posts and think they add points to someone's application? Is it HR? Please don't tell me it is HR, my view of them is already too low.
