Agree with joining a chain. I do equinox because I get some corporate assistance for "health stuff" every month so its not as bad, and the city pass is actually the biggest plus. There is one 5 min walk from my house and one 5 mins from the office, so pretty easy to sneak over to either.

Prior firm was not as demanding, so a 1-1.5 hour long lunch break was not abnormal (associates/VPs would regularly dip out for a 12 pm cycle class etc). I was also fasting, so didn't split that time with eating. Only did the mid-day workout a couple times (enjoyed the early morning routine more), but the times I did would usually be a 45-minute circuit with a quick shower afterwards.

did you ever had the issue of not sleeping well because you knew you had to wake up early for the workout?

I had to eliminate morning workouts because of that. They created a negative cycle.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Never really had that issue, though I'm a heavy sleeper and can fall asleep within minutes of laying down so those two factors help. Also, I would be excited to get my morning workout in first thing in the morning, so having a positive mindset probably helped - not only getting to bed early (sleep/rest matter) but also pushing myself to get out of bed when the alarm goes off. Didn't go out much during the work week, so was usually in bed by 10pm (not possible for everyone of course) and up at 5am. I enjoy the process of keeping in shape so understood the steps I needed to take in order to do so. If you're still able to exercise though, regardless of time of day, then I'd say stick to what's working for you.

I hear previous comments. Prob depends on when you like to go to the gym. My first year I went with gym near home (which wasn’t too far from office anyway) as I liked to either go early morning (that habit kinda stopped a few months into the job) and then used it on the nights when I was able to get out decently early enough and take care of any follow-ups from home as well as use the gym on weekend days since generally if I needed to go in it may only have needed to be starting in the later morning and/or may have an earlier go home time giving me the ability to use the gym on the weekend. Just some thoughts that I hope may help you

If you work out first thing in the AM, close to home, if you work out after work, close to office. Those are my personal preferences at least.

Close to home so you don’t have to lug around gym gear to the gym and then mess up your collared shirts and slacks lugging them home after a workout.
