SPOILERS BELOW:

Good Bond film, not as good as Skyfall not as bad as Quantum.

Had they developed Blofeld more, it would have been a lot better. I still don't really know what his evil plan was. Was he just going to quietly pull all of the strings in the background or was he going to use all that data to have a more public impact? And he takes about he orchestrated the last three villains and killed all the women but never elaborates. A similar criticism I guess but it would have really improved the movie.

The whole fight on the train seemed pretty superfluous as well. Instead of using that opportunity to say some things about Spectre that big guy just comes out of nowhere and starts to beat Bond up then he kills him and that's that. And why didn't Bond go over to the car and put one in his head to make sure he's dead after the chase on the mountain?

That said the opening scene was fantastic and I thought the Rome scenes were pretty great as well. You know now that I think about it, up until the train scene it was a pretty good movie, but after it goes downhill pretty fast.

(Spoilers)

I know every clickbait site on the internet is reporting that Craig is out because of a quote he gave that basically said "I'm tired of doing Bond at this very second because I just filmed a movie" but he has the option for a fifth, has a block in his schedule for the next three years, and more or less just has to sign the contract and he'll be back.

I agree that it was rushed, but I have to think that with Blofeld alive and Bond with Madeline at the end of Spectre, they are setting up the next film while hedging just in case he does not come back. If he doesn't, then Bond left the life behind by not killing Blofeld and going off into he sunset with his girl. If he does, then Blofeld is still very much alive and Bond has to choose between duty and "who he is" versus the normal life he keeps trying to live. I'd imagine his well-established alcoholism would become a problem in a committed relationship too...

IMO, in 2018 Craig comes back in Bond 25, Blofeld comes back, and they wrap up the Craig era in grand fashion.

MORE SPOILERS

I think you're right. The old Blofeld (even though unnamed) was in a wheel chair in Thunderball so they could just give Waltz a wheelchair after his leg got jacked up and let him explain how he plans to bring about a New World Order. I'd love to see this plot expand and more of the story revealed.

I read a conspiracy theory that could end up being pretty spot on if Craig doesn't come back. In the scene where Blofeld is about to drill out Bond's eyes, he talks about how losing your eyes changes a man and you lose your identity. The theory is that he actually does drill out bonds eyes and everything that then takes place, explosion, going and taking care of everything in London, and ending up with the girl that he actually loves is all a figment of his imagination because he can finally let go of the hardened, dark past that he had. It might be worth looking at again if there's any suggestions of such in a new Bond film with a new actor (please not Idris Elba) but currently seems too real for a Bond movie.

I liked it. I'd have to rewatch Skyfall, but I don't think I liked it as much as Spectre. Quantum was fing terrible.

I agree that they could have fleshed out the evil organization more; after spending multiple movies building up to this big reveal, it was a bit of let down after he escaped from that big meeting.

Wonder where the plot goes for the final one, since they already revealed the head of Spectre. Or did they......?

Nah, way too over the top. Spectre was not as good as Skyfall (because IMO, Skyfall was the best movie of the franchise and finally relegated Connery to second place) and maybe a notch or two below Casino, but it was still a good Bond movie.

Quantum isn't particularly good thanks to the writer's strike, but if you take a Saturday and watch Casino and then Quantum immediately back to back, Quantum comes off a lot better.

Even if they go with a black bond (which I disagree with, but honestly wouldn't hate and/or not see the movies over), I highly doubt it'll be Elba. He's only 3.5 years younger than Craig, who is pushing 50, so if it IS Idris Elba by the time his movie comes out he will be the same age Craig is now.

Most likely, some semi-obscure but good British actor in his early 40's will get it. Tom Hardy would be an interesting choice, although I doubt he'd want to commit to the role long-term.

I'm a huge Elba fan, but casting him as Bond doesn't make sense. In general, I think it's good to stay as true to how the character was displayed in the books as possible.

Spectre was horrendous. I nearly fell asleep and toyed with the idea of walking out. It is by far the worst movie in the Craig franchise and towards the bottom of all Bond movies along with a few of the Moore and Brosnan films. The opening scene in Mexico City was electric, and I was super pumped; the movie then fell totally flat. The characters, including the villains, were very undeveloped, and it was not at all clear what true significance the Spectre organization really had and what their core motives were. There was also zero chemistry between Bond and the girl; the love scenes seemed awfully contrived, mechanical even. Overall the movie just dragged on, lacking the thrill, nuance, and sophistication of Casino Royale or Skyfall.
