Sunday Showdown: the fictional rich

I was going to write about commodities and the economy, but with it being a Sunday I felt that I should just take it easy and do some front page trolling.

We all fall under the banner of finance and money, with fictional figures like Gordon Gekko and Patrick Bateman considered as icons but with Forbes releasing their Fictional 15 and The Daily Beast having their own spin with The Richest Movie Characters, I got a little curious about your inner nerds...

Who do you think is the most badass fictional billionaire?

And which of them would you rather be?

On the badassery front Tony Montana came to mind, but who really wants to be some narco kingpin?

An older Patrick Bateman sounded cool too, but he’s a caricature of everything wrong on WSO.

Gekko? His daughter's a boy.

Cartoon Lex Luthor with sexy chauffer-slash-bodyguard?

The Night Fox from the Ocean’s trilogy?

Meh, I’m going with Carter Pewterschimdt here. Dude walks around in a robe all day, scheming, drinking, and slapping around other rich guys like Bill Gates. He’s Lebowski with all the class plus all the cash.

You?

A mountain of monkey shit to anyone who references Twilight.

The only reason I would watch duck tales as a kid was to see McDuck go for a swim in all his gold. I think he trumps any fictional billionarie.

Tony Stark

Super-smart, one of the richest guys in the world, and that suit is way more badass than Batman's.

Gotta be an actual drug lord somewhere that has all this and more.

Damn, those lists are wildly different. Goes to show how much of a science this is when Bruce Wayne's wealth calculation can be anywhere from $4.0 to $7.0 Billion depending on which list you're looking at. That being said, it would be nice to have somebody combine the lists, because I think guys like John Hammond, Charles Foster Kane, and Willy Wonka should be on the Forbes 15 as well. Also, I agree that the Malfoys even being on the list is a big WTF, let alone at number 1.

As for who's missing, I think we should see: Adrian Veidt (from Watchmen) Mr. Saito (from Inception) Jabba the Hut (from Star Wars) Xerxes (from 300, adjust wealth in real dollars) Russell Edgington (from True Blood)

alexpaschThe Malfoy guy as #1? Oh c'mon...

The richest movie character has to be Emperor Palpatine...I mean he's the dictator of a whole effing galaxy...you know he has to be skimming a little off the top...

I wonder who his private banker is, and if he chokes him from a distance if the portfolio has a big drawdown...

haha agreed...if i had a sb it would be tossed your way
