The quote that changed my life...
"Ultimately, man should not ask what the meaning of his life is, but rather must recognize that it is he who is asked. In a word, each man is questioned by life; and he can only answer to life by answering for his own life; to life he can only respond by being responsible."
have been lurking for a while but thought i would share this..

quote was too complicated, d*ck got caught in the ceiling fan :/
In laymans' terms that sounds like YOLO
Simply put...You are your maker. It doesn't matter who you are, where you went to school, what you want to be, and how much of an impact you will have in this world. It's just simply you, and your actions that will determine "your" meaning towards life; there is no underlying meaning towards your specific life, no calling from god telling you this is what your meant to do, and no hidden truth to life that you'll figure out after 50 years, just your actions which result in an outcome, which will shape your life.
To put it in a layman's term; a quote from Frank Underwood (House of Cards)- "There is no solace above or below. Only us - small, solitary, striving, battling one another. I pray to myself, for myself"
This quote reminds of JFK's quote.
that quote basically sums up existentialism
"Go to bed smarter than when you woke up" - Charlie Munger
what quotes motivate you guys to kick ass every morning?
That sounds completely nihilistic but to each his own.
I like this one better.
//
had to google nihilistic for a definition lol. But it actually is not.
This is a quote from "Victor Frankl - Man's search for meaning". I believe he was religious if I am not mistaken.
(highly recommend looking up his story... lived through being in a concentration camp and watching his whole family die. He was a professor of psychology and began to imagine himself teaching his students and imagining he was in a place were he was happy and comfortable rather than in a concentration camp. And his happiness affected everyone around him... very encouraging stuff)
It's nihilist in the sense that there is no single objective meaning of life, no simple answer to the question of the meaning of life that applies to everyone. But instead we should create our own meaning to life in the face of this emptiness.
It's basically Nietzsche
Who said this?
"Wake up, get out, and piss excellence."
+1.
