In the middle of The Everything Store about Bezos. Pretty fascinating.
Titan - John D. Rockefeller is actually very similar to Bezos story in how they lowered prices to crush the competition and then acquire said competition.
If you want a really great story... one that if it were a movie nobody would believe but it's actually true and not that well known... read The Fish that Ate The Whale by Rich Cohen. It's about Sam Zemmurray and the banana trade which flourished throughout the earlier part of last century. The man was half Jeff Bezos half Al Capone.
My favorite is probably Hong Kong real estate magnate Li Ka-Shing - richest man in Asia. From his wiki- Considered one of the most powerful figures in Asia, Li was named "Asia's Most Powerful Man, Li Ka-Ching" by Asiaweek in 2001. His companies make up 15% of the market cap of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.7 Forbes Magazine and the Forbes family honoured Li Ka-shing with the first ever "Malcolm S. Forbes Lifetime Achievement Award" on 5 September 2006, in Singapore.8 In spite of his wealth, Li has cultivated a reputation for leading a no-frills lifestyle, and is known to wear simple black dress shoes and an inexpensive Seiko wristwatch, which is at odds with the house he owns in one of Hong Kong's most expensive precincts, Deep Water Bay in Hong Kong Island. Li is also regarded as one of Asia's most generous philanthropists, donating over US $1.41 billion to date to charity and other various philanthropic causes.9 Li is often referred to as "Superman" in Hong Kong because of his business prowess
The billionaire who wasn't - Chuck Feeney (one of the founders of the DFS chain) has given away more money than most will ever make
The eccentric billionaire - John d MacArthur ruthlessly built an insurance powerhouse then into Florida real estate, and did how best work at his hotel's cafe
Damn Right - kinda cheated with this one since it is about Charlie Munger. But he is ultra smart and quirky

Read the Eccentric Billionaire this past summer.. great read! The two biographies on HL Hunt I've read were my favorites though. I'd highly recommend it to anyone. He's one of the most interesting people I've ever read about. Also, the author of one of the Hunt biographies wrote Ling: The Rise, Fall, and Return of a Texas Titan. It's about James Ling who was one of the most successful businessmen of the 1960's. Got his start peddling shares of his company at the Texas State Fair, lol. Eventually turned it into one of the largest conglomerates (LTV). I also found The Match King (Ivar Kreuger) to be a an amusing read.

Tearing Down the Walls : How Sandy Weill Fought His Way to the Top of the Financial World. . .and Then Nearly Lost It All - Amazing read.
That book was great. I mostly liked it because of Jamie Dimon.
Alternative thread title: "What is your favorite narrative fallacy?"
This. Good ol' post hoc ergo propter hoc.
Great thread. As if I don't have enough to read. Ever since learning that Bezos worked at D.E. Shaw I've always wanted to know more about him.
I think Loosing my Virginity by Richard Branson is amazing . Also Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson and Paul Allen's Idea Man are great.
The King of Oil: The Secret Lives of Marc Rich
King of Capital: The Remarkable Rise, Fall, and Rise Again of Steve Schwarzman and Blackstone
First billion is always the hardest
A few come to mind for me...
