I was browsing the web and came across this site listing the best phones of the year. I'm due for a upgrade soon so I was wondering, what smartphone are you using and...would you recommend it?

iPhone 6S. I might make the jump to a Google Pixel when I'm due for an upgrade next year.
EDIT: Work phone is an iPhone 6. I never knew how much I enjoyed Force Touch on my 6S before my job gave me the 6.
Wow! Is force touch really that useful? It came across as a little gimmicky to me when it came out though :/
It's great for editing texts, quickly using an action from an app (Force Touch the app without opening it), and saving/copying images.
Has your 6s battery recently turned to shit? Mine has after I've updated ios a few times
Actually no. My battery will last two full days with limited use and one day if I use it frequently.
Just upgraded to the iPhone 7 Plus. Was due for a free upgrade and Verizon had a special promo over Black Friday weekend, received a $100 credit to my bill. :) It has a better camera, battery, and processor, but honestly, nothing much different from the predecessor.
FYI -- gloss black is all nice and dandy but it leaves nasty smudges on the back of the phone!
Wow, that's an awesome deal! Yea i'm currently using an iPhone 6, was thinking of switching to the 7 but the lack of the headphone jack is just...ugh. How are you coping with the loss of the headphone jack?
Well, just use the earphones that is included in the box. The only issue I can see is if the person owns Beats or other headphones that use the 3.5mm headphone jack, or if you break or lose the Apple earphones that comes with the phone.
Also upgrading and looking at the Oneplus 3. Friend has it and it seems like a pretty good deal, like the old Nexuses used to be.
Pros: 6 GB RAM, $400 price, they have this charger that gets you 75% in 15 minutes, all other specs are basically up to par with flagship phones
Cons: Camera apparently has issues with video stabilization, screen is apparently not as good as other phones but I can't tell the difference

I don't know if you're serious, but some of those older/cheaper phones are fantastic for their sole purpose of calling/texting. Battery life is absurd, they are indestructible, and they get the job done. Bought a "crappy" phone when I studied abroad, and I could make it probably five days before the battery died.
no Razr.. just some super durable flip phone .. three years in and I only charge it every other day.
first semester senior year at university I broke three smart phones.. I literally could not afford another, so I got a flip phone. Not having GPS or being able to perform a quick google search sucks, but getting off social media has been awesome. It's incredible how much time people spend on their phones
edit: it's crazy how presumptuous people are when i break it out though. Just the other night some drunk lady at the bar started yelling about my "Obama" phone,

iPhone 7+. I jumped from the 5s so it was a large upgrade in terms of functionality and I'm not entirely sure which features came in 6 cycle vs. 7. Like it a lot so far. Pretty much no need to travel w/ my iPad now which is nice. Apps load much faster. Siri is still pretty much useless however.
iPhone 6. Don't know what to do when I end up having to get a new one though.
iPhone 6.... know that samsung and android are much better, yet for some reason stuck in apple rut. Even picked up new wireless headphones for eventual upgrade to 7
I followed the smartphone releases pretty close this year so this might help: First decide if you want iOS or Android. If you go for iOS its simple: either get the iPhone 7 or Plus depending on what size you like. For Android I would suggest to get the Galaxy S7 or Pixel if you got the money, both are solid phones. Don't bother with the Edge, for now it can't justify the price. If you are on a budget though, get the Oneplus 3T.
FYI: If you're on a budget and want a smaller screen, you can import the Xiaomi Mi5 from China like I did. Incredible smartphone for the price, but for most people the hassle isn't worth it.
I have a Nexus 5X which I love and the Pixel looks awesome. I'll only be buying Google phones from here on out. I like only paying $45/mo for service with Google Project Fi. Verizon and AT&T can fuck right off.

Galaxy Note 5. I can't live without my stylus for note taking, planning, and general idea writing.
Iphone 5s.... The camera is so fucking horrible on it right now and can't even take a clear picture of a piece of paper with writing. Too broke/not worth it to buy a new phone and new contract.
iPhone 6s. Not upgrading to the 7, there's almost no difference. I have a blackberry bold for work though, and it feels like I'm going back in time whenever I use it.
iPhone 7+. It's not great in terms of new features. I would say other phones are better (Samsung if you don't get your leg blown up). I'm on the upgrade plan, because I think the next model will actually be an upgrade over the current model.
Realizing that the headphone jack vs charge port is an issue since I listen to music at work.
iPhone 5c on a $35/month plan. No reason to drop another $300 on a newer phone, and paying $70/month for a "plan" is even more stupid.

Current phone is ass, but I'm planning on getting the OnePlus3T. It's the quality of your average Nexus, iPhone, Pixel but for half the price. I chose Android in general because the phone isn't locked from the user to modify like apple's phones are. I can install third party apps, save pdfs at different places, download music instantly from my phone (without the crappy apple music) etc.
I have a personal 7+ and a 7 for work.
When the 7+ came in the mail I was like shit this thing is huge and was a little torn about it, I bought it off the internet without going in and looking at it. But after a few months of having it, every time I pick up the 7 I feel like I'm holding a child's toy it's so small.
The 7+ is the perfect size for games (Boom Beach), watching Netflix on flights because I travel every week (now that you can download things), and for browsing the interwebs without having to carry around a tablet and a phone.
iPhone 5SE. It's the guts of the 6 in the body of the 5. It's perfectly sized.
4s with a cracked screen, probably the last of my kind. Been waiting for some actual inno from apple to justify an upgrade....trying to survive until the 8 comes out or they slash the price on the 7

1.) which phone do you use? (iPhone, droid, bberry)
2.) Is it stock or jailbroken/rooted? If not do you want to root it?
3.) If it is rooted, did you install a custom ROM/Kernel onto it? If not, do you stay away because of the danger of bricking it?

Jailbroken iPhone, was anti-breaking but went abroad and needed carrier functionality.
