What’s your breakfast?
Per the title. What do you eat first thing in the day? For the IF crowd, what’s your first meal?
I see all kinds of shit on the trading floor. The guy with a Diet Coke on the regular, the fat chick who is obviously fat because she can’t stop eating whole omelettes for breakfast, the lean guy who survives on protein shakes, and more.
I personally have either nothing, scrambled eggs, fruits, or a bacon egg and cheese if I was out drinking the night before. But the one thing I always nab: Starbucks’ veranda blend in a medium cup with some honey. Unbeatable.
lean guy with shake here. 6 strawberries, handful of blueberries, a banana with a scoop of protein powder. I add tumeric and acai powder as well. Quick and ez fix in the morning as I prep on Sundays for the week.
six strawberries? SIX? Just picture this fucking asshole in the morning plucking berries and plopping them into his acai shake.
Foodie here: mix between breads with different spreads (cheese, PB&J or others), cereal (granola and kids shit - love that stuff) or yogurt with nuts/berries/jam/honey. You can eat like shit for lunch but breakfast is key for me.
Dude you eat like a child and people should know this about you and make fun of you. I hope they do.
Dude, last I checked what you eat (with the exception of baby food) does not indicate age/masculinity/anything else. You also don't seem to like strawberries. You're either very insecure or soft in the head.
Starbucks pastry selection
Eggs / sausage / coffee (been trying keto recently).
Normally some egg whites with oats (can't beat it, costs like $2 at work).
Since I do IF/Keto, my first whole meal of the day is lunch - and for that, I do a nice salad (spinach, arugula, some veggies, pickles for crunch, either walnuts or pecans, cheese, and avocado). For breakfast, it's just coffee. On my 5AM lifting days, I have some nuts around 10AM and my Salad around 12:30/1PM. I'll expand my window to about 8PM to account for the snack though.
Considering you do IF / Keto isn't that a pretty light first meal? I mean unless you have a bowl full of nuts and cheese you're really only getting like 400-500 calories worth from the nuts / cheese / avocado (assuming you're buying / making a normal salad, would be more if you load up on the nuts / avocado I suppose). What do you do in the afternoon? Pound back a 1200 calorie dinner?
As light as it is, I tend to go more protein heavy for dinner and like to leave a little room if I'm feeling peckish during the day or after dinner. Plus, I also have things like jerky and nuts to snack on if needed while at work, or a slew of things I can throw together if I'm home that keep in my macros.
Fat fuck here: started IF recently after a thread about it here, dong something similar to what Frieds mentioned
coffee with powdered MCT or coconut oil
if hung over, breakfast burrito (must have @ a min/bacon, hashbrowns, eggs, salsa)
Have fun pooping after having a burrito for breakfast.
Usually nothing. I'll grab a snack around 10.
IF guy, large black iced coffee and if I had dinner early the evening before I'll have a banana and a little greek yogurt
Usually espresso.
I’m not that hungry in the mornings. I cycled 41mi this morning before 7am / still not that hungry - was kind of light. I did eat during the ride though.
How long does it take you to cycle 41 miles? Based on a quick google search people that commute to work bike around 15 MPH. You go 20ish MPH and bike 2 hours in the morn?
lol
No, I don't commute. Was just dicking around. I was supposed to go to striking last night, then ate for 4 hours and started playing a $15 poker game on the $5K nightly on Carbon. Schedule got bumped. Then, decided to go cycling after that, but didn't end up leaving until like 1am, so was behind and rode 25miles, then got kind of tired, so took a nap in the grass for an hour and rode 16mi back to my place.
I was initially just going to do maybe 20mi of bridge / elevation repeats, but then just started riding....
I think Cardio makes you want to eat less. Something about evolution and needing to not want food so you can keep going for longer.
IF here (most of the time). Usually no breakfast, salad or something similarly light for lunch, and then big, protein rich dinner after gym. Sucked for the first couple of weeks but now I'm never really hungry and have a lot more energy.
Honest question. How do you not get hungry in the mornings if you fast until lunch?
Your body adjusts to it pretty quick. Never really hungry in the mornings anymore as long as I eat dinner. If I skip out on dinner, I'm starving right when I wake up.
If I'm lifting heavy that day I'll try to eat something with carbs like 2 pieces of bread with a good amount of meat.
If not lifting heavy that day, then protein shake and some cauliflower or something else pretty light otherwise I find I get sleepy too fast.
1 scoop of hydrolyzed whey isolate + 1 tbsp organic PB or AB + 1 tbsp folgers instant coffee + Water + 4 ice cubes
Sounds damn good, I’ll have to give it a try
I just get a coffee around 9-10AM and then eat lunch at around 1. I don't really see the need for 3 meals in a day. I'm not really that hungry in the mornings and if I eat something in the morning then I'm basically stuffing myself if I also have lunch just a couple of hours later.
5:30 AM: protein shake, cereal/oatmeal, coffee before lifting 8:00 AM: 2 eggs, blueberries, nanner, more coffee before heading to work
Oats with protein powder (proats as some call it). It gets bland over time, but provides energy throughout the morning and is highly satiating
have you ever tried mixing it up with overnight oats?
i'm currently working with this recipe and it's pretty solid:
1/2 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup greek yogurt tbsp of PB or Almond Butter tbsp flax seed few dashes of cinnamon a handful of frozen blueberries scoop of whey 60g C, 18g F, 44g P
Cage is a terrible actor, get real. He had The Rock and even that was mostly Sean Connery.
That sounds like a killer combo. I will have to give it a try.
I think one of the most underrated breakfast items in the US is the NYC Bacon Egg and Cheese on a roll. Its soooooo goood. Usually Boar's head products and at corner delis or Rays. They wrap it in tin foil so the cheese melts when you open it --- perfectly sliced in half.
I want one right now, damnnnn
I'm getting hungry ///
I sometimes just eat these on a Saturday after a night of drinking. Just 2-3 bacon egg and cheese sandwiches during the day, coffee, tea, fruit juice, plenty of water. Recovery in the morning, gym in the day, light eating in the afternoon. More drinking at night most likely followed by a Sunday of home cooking.
You know what? I'm doing this this weekend.
Usually a quest protein bar and coffee. Sometimes a pastry and fruit if breakfast is brought into the office.
Stress, emails, and revisions
Swing and a miss there, cap'n.
Cup of oatmeal with honey if I'm lifting in the morning, otherwise usually scrambled eggs out of 4 whole eggs and 6 egg whites and some black coffee to go with it (omitted on training days as I will take a preworkout at the gym instead).
Three poached eggs on wholewheat toast, black coffee. Normally after having cycled 8mi into work.
16 oz of black coffee. I don't eat anything until lunch M-F.
3 eggs scrambled, greek yogurt, and either almonds or walnuts. Lots of protein, few carbs, good fats
A tall glass of water and then it's feast time at lunch/dinner.
I eat one meal somewhere between 3 and 6PM usually. Vegetables and protein
Usually a coldbrew in the morning with overnight oats (if I remembered to make them) consisting of oats, chia seeds, greek yogurt, a little bit of peanut butter, and various fruit. If I was an idiot an forgot to make it overnight, throw everything in the nutribullet and drink it as a smoothie. I thought it was going to be a little soyboy for my taste, but it's pretty good and real solid on macro and micro nutrients.
nuts, bolts, nails, any other industrial materials i can get my hands on. while the other analysts in class eat eggs for breakfast, i make a trip to home depot. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

What better for a new year than a new approach to life. I know lots of you guys are feeling pretty terrible by the time those late hour coffee runs are in order. There is not much one can do to stop the lethargy, but combat it you must!
This is why I recommend refocusing on your breakfast habits this year.
It is the most important meal of the day and it can make the difference between the positive energy you need to succeed and the downtrodden "one-foot-before-the-other" attitude that marks so many of the people you yourself would rather not deal with.
That having been said, here's my idea of the ultimate power breakfast... what's yours?
I just got a chubby...
This is the ultimate Breakfast of Champions.
I bet she could make a super bucket go from extra crispy to skinless in under 6 seconds.
I can't help but think of the scene from Robin Hood: Men in Tights where Robin of Loxley, portrayed by Cary Elwes, brings in a giant, freshly killed boar and drops it on the Prince John's table. Prince John, played by Richard Lewis, responds in the only way he can.... "Traif".
All the pig product in here reminds me of that scene for some reason.
ham egg and cheese for McK
ham egg and cheese for McK
wow. epic video is epic
12 oz. Redbull & a sausage, egg, and cheese McGriddle
Someone send this to grease trucks
6 pieces of turkey bacon 5 eggs 1/2 cup of oatmeal 1/2 cup of fruit 3 cups of coffee
Take a huge deuce by 10 am.
I don't know if anyone watches Dexter, but I've always thought he has an awesome breakfast (eggs, steak/ham, blood-oranges, coffee, and etc.)
That makes me feel ill. No way could I eat that, I'm picky. I don't eat Eggs, Bacon or Sausages. And not to mention it's just too fatty. Can't beat one slice of Vegemite Toast and a cup of Black Tea for Breakfast, It's just the best :)
I hope you are being sarcastic, cause that sounds absolutely awful.
i have a good and simple recipe i usually eat after i go swimming but it's good for breakfast too.
half a can of baked beans + two diced tomatoes - in the frying pan till bubbling, add two eggs. fry to your own taste.
even it out with a banana or and apple to feel good about yourself (you already added the tomatoes.
A hearty meal, but not for breakfast; too fatty and too much calories.
im surprised nobody brought up bagels... damn they are awesome, so very awesome. I think I will have one right now.
605am 4 egg whites or oatmeal 12 Raw almonds 1 fruit
830am 6 oz protein (chicken breast/salmon) 2 almonds 1 fruit
Whats the point of making money of if i'm not fit to enjoy it?
I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast.....
na, i love vegemite. maybe it's because my dad grew up in melbourne :)
Well clearly your Dad raised you correctly. You certainly do have Aussie traits then. Lol :)
Normally skip breakfast
Coffee Black. Maybe a Clif bar if I'm hungover.
Eggs, oatmeal, and fruit
No, one should be eating breakfast honestly. The entire concept of breakfast or meals shortly after waking up in the morning have been debunked and proven to not be very healthy no matter what you consume. Everyone should have a minimum 12hr no-calorie/fasted period.
Literally can´t function without breakfast, I get cranky as hell. In the morning directly after waking up it´s usually a swig or two from my energy drink of choice, maybe some booze in there cause yolo. At work, I´ll get a bun, some butter and ham, or maybe honey. Also some muesli with fruits (blueberries are the shit) and yoghurt. Also a coffee with milk and copious amounts of water. That´s how real ballers start their day - energized, hydrated, ready to fuck.
On Sundays, boozy brunch is a must, can´t skip those mimosas.
I keep it the same every day, a bowl of oatmeal with berries along with 2 eggs and 2 egg whites and 2 strips of turkey bacon
Killer cinnamon bagels with peanut butter spread. 400 calories and like 40g of protein
In all honesty—nothing.
Ew dude honey in coffee? Doesn’t mix well or taste good. Maple syrup is superior.
Overnight Oats are my go-to breakfast.
Usually put in 52g of oats, 240ml of chocolate almond milk, 1 banana, 70g of blueberries, 2 servings of PB fit peanut butter, 1 scoop of protein, 30g of chia seeds, and top it off with some Ceylon cinnamon (PSA: Ceylon healthiest and helps insulin sensitivity).
This meal comes out to ~785 calories, 20 fat, 82 carbs, 56 protein, and 25 fiber. Very easy to adjust ingredient amounts depending on if it’s a rest or workout day.
Can’t picture a more healthy start to the day and it’s easy to pack it up and take to the office.
Normally 30+ oz of black covfefe
Wow 30oz
