What's your protocol when shit hits the fan at work?

Bit overwhelmed with the amount of shit and the strength of fan lately. Hoping to tap into the community's wisdom around situations where everything seems to be going up in flames. What helped you push through and how do you stay disciplined?

Edit: Work related.

Long story short: Deal count higher, headcount smaller, client requests now filtered to the investment teams and senior management is not looking to increase resources

I'm going to assume this is work-related but, if not let us know. Here's what I do:

Figure out what is causing "shit to hit the fan." Unreasonable deadlines? End of Quarter, FY? Metrics not being met and you're X away from the target?

Once you determine this prioritize what needs to be done in an effort to tackle tasks that have the greatest benefit. To provide context if your immediate boss asks you for something or a VP (your boss's boss) I would focus on the latter.

This may not be possible in all industry's but ask for help. See if someone has the data you need or pieces of info you need and reach out and ask for support so you can focus on other aspects of said tasks.

There is more to this but we need more context around your situation to advise.
