Where are your favorite NYC delis?

I very much enjoy eating a deli sandwich for either lunch or dinner, wondering where are some of your favorite delis in NYC, and what do you order from there?

My favorite deli is Katz Deli but it’s far from my office so I can only go there on occasion.

Making me miss NYC over here looking back at my food list! Here’s a couple I liked:

  • Faicco’s (West Village) - Italian special, chicken parm, meatball, can’t really go wrong here
  • Parisi Bakery (SoHo) - The Dennis is the go-to, chicken cutlets, mozz, etc and add the roasted peppers - old school, cash only
  • Sunny & Annie’s (East Village) - have some interesting sandwich options here, have tried the bulgogi and tuna salad

Lived in West Village so typically stuck close to there, but that city has so many amazing choices.

I came here to say Sunny and Annie's. I have spent thousands of dollars at this place. It is an absolute stoner paradise. Great selection of Ben and Jerry's ice cream, killer sandwiches and a good selection of beer too. Their BEC on a roll in the morning is the bomb. Boar's head Bacon and Cheese. Boar's Head meat if you want to buy meat. All of their sandwiches are high quality. My favorite sandwich is "The East Side Ink" - hot roast beef, melted pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, hot pepper on a toasted hero. It is the bomb. I lived on that corner at 6th and B for 2 years. Lots of cool places around there.

At least ~5 years ago, East Village's food scene was insanely good vs. other parts of Manhattan / rest of the city. I would probably gain 15-20 pounds if I decided to live out there for 3-4 months.

Also I know most of the posts here are about Manhattan because that's where many of you work but you can some amazing delis out in Brooklyn / Queens. My favorite deli is in Queens. Forgetting the name and location but my parents used to occasionally stop by it to get food (they live in the suburbs now but there's a deli in Queens that they used to go to every once in awhile since the 90s when we lived in that borough). I know how to get there but forgetting the name / location etc.

Optimo deli in Queens. Haven’t been to that one in a while, but their heart attack sandwich used to be my weekly ritual.
