WTF is wrong with New York City

Ok all cities have these issues but honestly

When I was in Queens my wallet was stolen and some guy went on a shopping spree at Nordstrom to the tune of $6000. Fortunately the CC firm blocked it and it never even went through.

Then there's the LaGuardia airport which is nasty.

Then there's the random hood figures walking around freely at night attacking East Asians and shoving people onto the tracks at the subway.

The Subway is dirty af.

Notice: I did not mention smells, multicultural facets, or any thing trivial or petty since all big cities have that worldwide.

This is more of a jab at the atmosphere of accepting shady elements and the lack of civility when the sun is missing.

What did you expect someone to do once they stole your wallet?  Donate to charity?

Then there's the LaGuardia airport which is nasty.

There is a gorgeous new terminal, perhaps you were referring to the construction?

Then there's the random hood figures walking around freely at night attacking East Asians and shoving people onto the tracks at the subway.

You mean "mentally ill homeless people"?  Or are you just upset there is crime?  That.... one time.... 8 million people live in this city, and you've decided to be outraged at a single act of violent crime?

The Subway is dirty af.

I suppose.  It's also cheap af.  You want a cleaner subway, pay more.

Sun is out right now and I'm getting no "civility" from you.  Apparently every criminal is a "hood figure" (and don't worry bud, we know what that's code for in your world).

Crime exists.  More people means more crime.  As for filth, just depends on your definition and tolerance.  NYC does have a municipal waste pickup problem, though I know you aren't informed or eloquent enough to discuss that; the point your making can be refuted by google image search for "west virginia hoarder yard".  I don't think that looks attractive, but you don't hear me complaining about it on the internet.

honestly that was pretty heavy handed and it looked nice but you dropped the ball.

It's you're not your.

Yes, I typed in anger and had a single typo; mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.

It's not a "heavy handed" take.  The OP has no idea what he's talking about and isn't actually thinking about what he's seeing, and thoughtlessness deserves scorn.  Of course New York seems dirty - it's got 8 million people stacked up in a comparatively amount piece of land.  The fact that there are homeless people walking around is also not hard to understand - it's not good, and it's a black eye for the city, but again... not many drifters head to rural Arkansas to panhandle.

No it can't. West Virginia is poorer than NYC in every conceivable measure yet has a vastly lower crime rate. I wonder why?

I know you hate poor and rural white people, but quit being a dumbass.

I wasn't talking about crime, big guy, I was talking about filth.  Which is why I said "hoarder."  Reading is hard, I know.

Kanawha County is the most populated in West Virginia, and New York has 150x the population density.  Of course New York City seems dirtier.  Shitty, thoughtless takes like this deserve opprobrium and scorn.

Also, your claim that West Virginia has a "vastly lower" crime rate deserves some scrutiny.  In 2020, the last year I could find evidence for, you were nearly twice as likely to be murdered in West Virginia as you are in New York City, for example.  More than twice as likely to be raped.  In fact, the only reason you could conceivably describe West Virginia as "safer" than NYC in any context is because you are far, far less likely to be robbed.  More likely to be assaulted, by the way.

In other words, once again, someone hates on NYC without actually understanding a damn thing about the city.  I'm a born New Yorker, and I'm proud of my city, and it bothers me to no end that some fucking moron shows up, thinks "oh man some trash on the street" and never stops to think about why that might be.  IN fact, in general, the general lack of critical thinking bothers me more.

So yeah, I'll take my chances being robbed if it means being better off from an assault, rape, or murder standpoint.

Where did you get this stat lmao. And can you detail us as to why so we don't have to wonder?

The LGA airport is one of the nicer domestic airports in the country now... construction outside of gates is a bit confusing but that is getting resolved... have you been there in the last two years?
