Advice to move up market from LMM PE?

Currently at a small <$250mm LMM PE fund and wanted to get some advice on how best to move to a larger fund? Targeting $250mm-$1bln fund sizes so will want to stay in the "LMM" space.

Is networking the best bet? Should I go through recruiters?

$250m - $1bn fund size is quite a broad spectrum $250m is LMM while a $1bn fund would be squarely MM.

With that being said, your best bet would be through HH that focus more on the LMM/MM space (e.g., Oxbridge if I remember correctly). As someone else mentioned I'd assume the market is rather slow but at the same time there is always need for lateral associates so as long as you have good meaningful experience don't think it would be too hard to move 'upstream'... that is of course your fund is a true LMM PE fund and not buying/biding on sub $1m EBITDA businesses
