Am I Underpaid?

Based on compensation threads I've seen here along with the standard benchmarking report for investing professionals, I have a sense that my shop is underindexed vs. comparable firms but wanted to confirm.

  • Latest fund: $5-10B (happy to provide more specificity if it swings the needle much in this range)
  • First-year Associate Compensation: $130K + 100% Bonus
  • SA Compensation: $175K + 100% Bonus
  • Lack of clarity on VP and onwards

Thanks, it's a good point. To your broader point, I would never plan on leaving because of $20-40K in compensation because I have a longer-term view but it's helpful to know, especially if exploring the recruiting landscape.

And while I agree with you that the money might be going somewhere well-intentioned, it's also always a possibility that partners are just keeping for themselves rather than reinvesting.
