Any insight on TA Associates?

Anyone have any insight about TA Associates particularly regarding lifestyle/comp/recruiting/day-to-day experience/what people have done after associate stint?

Know they have begun doing more majority / LBO type investments in addition to traditional growth equity investments, how does this impact the type of experience you would get here?

Lastly, from the team page, it seems that they are pretty receptive to hiring from consulting, can anyone confirm the extent to which this is true?

Thanks in advance!

One of the most highly regarded names in the world of growth equity. Heard comp is very good (in line with larger PE funds). Not sure on lifestyle but would love to hear about that as well.

Typically Associates tend to focus more on investing/execution work relative to other growth equity firms (unlike Summit which is much more sourcing focused), but sourcing is still a component of the Associate role. TA does a variety of investments ranging from traditional growth equity minority investing to growth-based buyout (although it seems like they tend to focus much more on growth-based buyout).

Went on-cycle this past year but believe they left a few off-cycle spots open as well. Technical/modeling skills will certainly be tested, but wouldn’t be surprised if they had a consulting-style case study element as well since that is a common practice for growth equity interviews at the larger funds. They seem to hire consultants relatively frequently but not entirely sure how often. Emphasis seems to be more on people who were in IB or at other growth/private equity firms beforehand based on their website.
