Are EB RX / MF PE better?

Hi everyone,

Summer analyst at EVR/PJT/CVP M&A and I hate the role. I have always loved finance, enjoy reading about it, doing stock pitches ect. but the work is so process oriented and mindless. I think I am doing a good job so far, and my analyst gives me his exact tasks, and I never feel intellectually challenged. I have been in excel for no more than 3 hours since beginning of the internship (excluding when making graphs). and speaking with FT, all the modelling you do are merger models that at the end of the day don't matter because companies pay what they want anyway.

Hence comes my point, are other jobs more interesting. We always hear Rx is more interesting, is this true? What about PE, do you guys use your brain a little bit more?

Long story short: M&A banking does not require any brain, what about Rx/PE?

So you're at EVR/PJT? CVP is generalist across M&A and Rx, so people can choose what to be staffed on.

banking sucks. try jumping to a MF Corporate PE, Special Sits, or Infra PE role.

yup. just btw, I skipped banking so I don't know what the day-to-day is like. But from my end, it looks like they just put together marketing materials (CIMs, MPs, etc.) and create simple models with exaggerated assumptions to back into the numbers in their marketing materials.

Turned down an EB gig just FYI.
