ASC program of 4 Years
Title says it, I joined a firm where the ASC PE program is 4 years. This is an UMM firm with $10B+ find size.
Speaking with friends at other PE shops, they seem to have 2-3 years ASC programs. Has anyone heard of 4-years program before? I could get 2 years behind friends who get VP after 2 years which seems long.
4 years here… Most of my friends who work at firms with direct promote are in 4 year programs too, unfortunately.
My fund is 2 years aso 2 years senior aso. No carry until vp and senior aso isn’t partner track. Basically the same thing as 4 year aso program
It's much more common than you think to have 4 total years. Sometimes it's 2 + 2, sometimes it's 3 +1, meaning Aso vs Sr Aso split. But a decent amount of "career track" MM/UM firms have that structure built in.
What firm promotes associates to VP after 2 years? 3/4 is typical from what I've heard (not including the b-school track)
Typically at firms that promote to VP after 2 years VP is in reality senior associate, with an extra Director layer in the middle that’s the real VP rung. Examples I can think of are Bain Cap and EQT
Is 3 years associate then 3 senior associate typical? After that is VP then principal then director then MD. Seems like way too long
I think about it in terms of years to partner, usually about 10-12 is standard.
