Asking PE Firm For Reading Materials
Would it be weird if I reach out to the folks at the firm I’m joining this summer for old IC materials / primers?
Work has been pretty slow this month and figured it’d be interesting to read through their materials to see how they think / present.
Primers are fine but I wouldn't ask for old IC materials, they can't send that stuff externally
Offer to sign an NDA and delete all materials when you start. Frame it as "I want to hit the ground running as much as possible." Say please send whatever you all are comfortable with (e.g., model template, returns pack, write-ups etc.)
Frankly, they shouldn't be cagey about sending something non-sensitive, as you're effectively offering to ramp/work for free, prior to being on payroll.
Comments like this make me scared to into PE. You want to spend your last few months of free time before PE, reading PE materials?
Don’t do it, will just come off as annoying. More useful would be to run practice LBOs, become more outspoken, get fit, maybe do a networking call or two
This has a net negative benefit. While your intentions are good and respectable, it will run some people the wrong way in a worst case. In a best case, you will have marginal benefits, save feeding your boredom right now while it’s slow.
I personally wouldn’t send anyone our IC memo
