You'll be working with some of the brightest people on the street - that's the good news. The bad news is that the pay is terrible and the hours and culture are terrible. Look how high the turnover is at the junior levels.
I interviewed for a Principal role and bombed , but pay was above street, with decent economics , but I’m sure hours were brutal
Are you the guy that whipped it out?
no , but i prob would of been better off, i thought i was interviewing for a role on the credit secondaries team (makes sense due to my background), found out 3 minutes in it was on their primary investment team, got flustered was on maybe 5 hours of sleep and couldn't put 10 words together.
How's their primary team?
gonna be honest, once i got flustered i blacked out, and just tried to get off the call.
Candidly, I think the two partners have a bad reputation in the industry. They're both super wealthy and intelligent but I don't think they treat staff well and they're also quite litigious.
They're basically a meme since they are suing a group that didn't end up wanting to do a deal with them. Counterparties renege on deals all the time - unless a PSA was signed an LOI is as good as toilet paper in court.
This group has been recruiting for the same job for almost a year now and I keep getting multiple inbounds about them. What is going on
who is the recruiter? which role / level, is it there primaries team or secondaries? i know they just luanched an energy fund too
They quietly took a GP stake from Investcorp and are expanding into a bunch of random strategies. LMM FoF/co-invests that have nothing to do with the credit/distressed secondaries, energy fund, etc. Best returns are probably behind them IMO.
LMM FoF who is paying a fee for that, do you have a deck?
Are you speaking of banner ridge getting into it specifically? I agree it’s odd but not surprising given the personality of the founders. Otherwise, FoFs with a LMM focus is pretty common.
