You would really be shooting yourself in the foot reneging on an EB offer this late in the cycle, there are next to no positions left.

MM or LMM PE is doable right out of school with strong networking, I always think it's better to do IB first for training and branding unless you have some MF offer you can't turn down.

Either try to recruit for FT (be mindful of your offer timeline too, I wouldn't turn it down if you come to the end of it with no offer) or lateral internally/externally into a traditional group after a year. You should be able to land PE from there pretty easily

As for b-school, can't really get to PE without doing PE before b-school.

I think you are overthinking this, if you take the private funds FT offer you can lateral at 1 year and then pretty easily land PE from your next spot. not an uncommon or terribly difficult path.

Insanely helpful comment - thank you so much. I think I’ll take this advice to heart - will stay on at the EB for now, and plan to recruit for FT positions. If that doesn’t work out I still have the security of the PFA position, and can try lateral to IB and then go down the IB/PE pipeline. My only question would be how feasible this is - I was under the impression that going from an almost placement agent role to IB would be difficult. Do you have any other advice you think is pertinent?
