Best MM PE Firms? ($1B - $5B AUM)
Currently an associate at a growth equity firm, looking to break into a 'classic' buyout MM PE firm. What are some good MM firms out there that manage around $1 - $5B?

Wow, you're one of the firsts posts I've seen who wants to make the switch from growth to buyout. Curious why, since usually you see the opposite.
I'm well aware - much of my job in growth equity is mundane (centered more around sourcing) to be honest. I'm considering buyout PE because I'd like to build more of an operational skillset as I progress through my career.
Realize you’re probably already set on the decision, but from someone in PE now (with friends at funds of various sizes), if you’re coming expecting less mundane work you will be disappointed. Working at a PE fund won’t really give you operational expertise either
Looking to make the switch. What makes your rile so mundane?

I'm well aware, I just want to try something new.
Fair enough. Good luck!
I know a couple people who made this move. Do you have a particular sector in mind
Thanks for the response. I currently focus on the e-commerce, consumer non-durables, and (sometimes) consumer durables sectors. Would like to maintain that focus as I lateral.
There are plenty of good funds in that size range focused on consumer. L Catterton and TSG are two that come to mind, depending on which coast you want to be on. Generally buyout funds should be receptive to growth equity associates because of the creative structures that go into growth deals.
