Blackstone Portfolio Operations Group

Currently at a BB AM division. Been looking at consulting-type jobs, and just found out about BX POG.

Does anyone know what an analyst does there? Hope it opens up opportunities to look at various company operations, but the Analyst position description sounds like a big middle-office job without much client interaction.

Please share your knowledge and insight.

I think BX's Portfolio Ops Group runs the operational/process improvements to the port cos (I could be thinking about a different role, however, but this was my understanding). There are senior level folks that head the integration efforts and post-closing operational work, but it might not necessarily be the linear progression coming from BB AM.

Are you currently taking the CFA? And do you have interest in continuing in the AM space? if so, you might be able to head to buy side investment management or thereabouts. I've heard that some of these roles are extremely favorable with respect to work life balance, and are still very lucrative as you become senior and your performance remains steady

There's a closer meaning to my user name. Try reading it quickly. Perhaps you will then understand ;P
