Brookfield Capital Partners -- Any Info at All

Who are these guys? What do they do? Any info on AUM, different groups, locations (I think there's Toronto and NYC), hiring, compensation.

I think there's a separate "Special Investment" program as well; But honestly any information is helpful.

Thanks!

I left the team a while ago so some of this may have evolved but you may still find useful

AUM is ~$75Bn, latest flagship is $9Bn. As far as teams, you could say there's 3 separate ones though There's really one main PE team which pretty much does only industrial and business services as it's Brookfield's bread and butter / synergises with the BPY/BEP/BIP branches. The second "team" is tiny and does real assets VC (not sure if they already closed the fund or it's still raising). The last team does TacOpps but the bulk of the deals are real estate special situations that don't fit into the BSREP funds. Last I heard, they're adding a FIG team that'll first focus on reinsurance but I'm not sure if it's gonna sit under BCP or be a separate branch.

As far as interviews, I can't help much but the previous thread someone linked is probably accurate. I will also say that the comments about pay are 100% true. Brookfield's model is to pay a higher base salary than competitors but much lower bonus for an overall pay cut. This is just a single datapoint but as an aso, my base was $140k but bonus was only 40% vs peers making $110k-120k and 100%.

For hours, I don't think it's "sweaty" but hours can get long as the team is lean and to be honest, there's a lot of turnover due to people chasing higher pay and promotion opps elsewhere.

Hope this helps
