Business Development - Analytical skills

Any business development (BD) associates in the house? Could you shed some light on the level of analytical work you do as part of your responsibilities? It’s my understanding that BD is essentially sales but want to see if there’s been anyone that has gotten the chance to work any aspect of deal execution.

I’m coming from Audit and have tried for years to break into PE (deal team) via big 4 TS. No luck there. I know going in via BD is near impossible but maybe closer to a possibility in a lower MM firm that is more lean?
