Buyside move - when is it too late?
I am well aware that the MFs seem to be recruiting 1st years before they hit their desk in IB, which seems a bit excessive, but beyond that I was told that around the 2-4 years mark in banking is where people usually make the jump. In my view, smaller funds (talking single digit to low double digit AUM) tend to want people who can “hit the ground running” and thus look for a few years of experience. However, keen to hear people’s stories of when they made the transition and - more importantly - when it is actually too late.
