Most firms recruit around beginning of the year and the summer as that’s when people leave so there would be lots of overlaps. The actual oncycle I.e. 22 months before you start, only Oaktree recruits. This is from info session with the biggest headhunters

I would prepare for on-cycle to kick off in May. PE firms and HHs showed that they don't care about even hitting the desk based on last year's on-cycle timeline, so would expect things to follow the trend of moving earlier than the year prior
