Can hedge fund analysts exit into PE

I am considering a career as a hedge fund/quant analyst, but eventually I wish to exit into PE. I heard chances are pretty slight but what if you go to some of the best (Citadel, Point72 etc)?

Thank u!

PE and public markets are just completely different asset classes. Unless you’re at a HF that does some private investing or aims to take majority control in companies, you don’t have any (or hardly any) experience with portcos, which is an important part of traditional buyout PE

Gonna corroborate the previous comments: it’s almost impossible. Maybe you could go to B-school and restart your career as a PE analyst at a smaller firm, but other than that I don’t really see it happening
