Which office? I work for CG in the DC group, been pretty open about it on this website. I can't give specifics or any other NPI, but I'm on the Core+ Infra/RE team. I like my group - we work well together and I've never felt the sweatshop brunt that others may speak of. Of course, this varies between teams & asset classes but I've found an extremely solid experience in my years of being here.
On an additional note, I will say that the guys & gals over on the tech buyout team are exceptional people and you will find friends that emerge from coworkers. You will work extremely hard, and performance will be expected, but the douche culture is turned down a great deal - this isn't Midtown. If you express your desire to put in the effort, absorb information around you, and listen to those who you work with then you'll enjoy your time here. I'm happy to answer any other questions you have (obviously nothing confidential whatsoever), but feel free to check my post/comment history where I've touched on this a fair bit.
I'm assuming you're currently interviewing off-cycle or prepping for next round's on-cycle, so best of luck. Keep pushing!
Any hours/culture in the Credit teams? (Any office just trying to get a feel but London in particular)
I heard is one of the teams with the worse work life balance
Can't be worse than PE, what's your source
I spoke to a Junior in the RE london team, she mentioned that Credit is one of the worse teams in his opinion - no other info unfortunately
I can't speak to specifics, but they're a little more top-heavy when it comes to hours. I'll just say that it's very rare that I walk out to my car at the end of the day & won't see those dudes still at the office. These types of stringent deals just require a lot more facetime, so you'll be behind your desk a lot more than someone in my department would. Culture-wise, I can only speak on what my location has to offer - whenever we cross-flow with them and consult, the culture seems to match what I've experienced. Great people are everywhere, just gotta know where to look. I'm sure there's some shit to sift through, but I don't think you'd have a bad experience!
Thanks a lot for the insights!
It would be for the London office and yes currently in process for analyst / associate so was trying to get a bit more color
Thanks again! :)
I love how everyone says “Credit” like it’s one team…they have a liquid/CLO team and a private team. I don’t know anyone there but from what I’ve heard they’re quite cheap and slow to promote, more so the case on the illiquid side. Re hours/culture no clue
