Chances of getting a Job in London
Hi all,
I am thinking about going to London for some personal experience, growth and challenge.
Currently, I am working in Germany for a sponsor-backed Renewable Energy IPP as a Senior Investment Associate. I am expecting a Promotion to Investment Manager this Summer or next Summer latest.
My Background is in Big4 TAS/VAL (Exited as Fresh Senior Consultant). Did my BSc in Economics at a German state-owned university without any special reputation and my MSc in Finance at a french semi-target.
How are my chances of getting a job in the city? Which categories of employers are possible for me to get into?
Can I do anything now, to significantly increase my chances in one year?

push - any help is very much appreciated
You've got a good profile and would be in contention for a lot of renewable energy / sustainable investing roles. However, i'm not sure if you have seen recent posts regarding London PE recruiting - it has been horrendous over the last 18 months with HHs playing a huge part in that (with how unprofessional they are).
Many IBs in your sector would be interested in someone with your background at the senior associate level
understood - thanks for the info
Sorry but pushing this again
Would a CFA be helpful?
Considering it is rather industry agnostic and i wouldn't be able to become a charterholder before starting my application process, i am not 100% sure.
I think i can do Level 1 in Aug/Nov and Level 2 earliest in May '26, which is already optimistic.
Is Level 1 a significant advantage when applying? Assuming i will go for Level 2&3 subsequently.
No CFA is worthless
