Consulting to PE
Do PE firms looks at consultants? I'm looking to do 2 years in life sciences/biotech at McKinsey and want to transition to PE (life sciences focused), is this a typical/feasible path

Very possible. Just take a look at LinkedIn - there are many ex-McK working in PE. Especially sector focused fonds and MF hire ex-consultants.
It's definitely possible. At my fund, we typically hire 45/45/10 banking/consulting/other for our associate classes. It'll be a bit rougher with model at the start, but you have an advantage on commercial DD. That does bring me to my main watch-out though: please do make sure you do some CDDs while you are a consultant. Running a PMO or consulting on LT HR/talent planning doesn't mean much for PE recruitment. We focus on folks who've had 2+ CDDs / corp dev projects under their belts. Good luck!
