I don't understand the logic of turning down IB for an internship in PE only to recruit for IB later. IB already is a known pathway to PE anyway. Also, I think it's crazy to turn down a job in this market/economy, but maybe you (or your parents) are already loaded.
In my country it is less of a clear pathway. Therefore, I would increase my chances a lot by doing these internships. I think my profile is strong enough to land FT positions later, but still a bit worried
