do you use AI in your PE work
what are some workstreams/types of work where you use AI? generating research questions? expert call transcription/notes cleanup? Writing call summary/key takeaways or even investment thesis/executive summary? where else?
Use it quite often to improve sentences and crisp down summaries. Never used it or will use it for investment thesis or research questions
Keep an eye on your firm's AI policies. They're evolving pretty rapidly and many (mine included) have explicit policies around uploading CIMs or other confidential documents into AI tools. Not sure if fireable offense but definitely would land you in hot water, so worth knowing what's allowed.
yea, i ask ai to rephrase "go f yourself" when my vp gives me more unncessary dd work
Can you give some examples of unnecessary DD work(or just unnecessary work in general)? Pretty new in PE and don’t know which work is unnecessary/maybe I could try to dodge or push back, or at least recognize it when someone’s always giving unnecessary work so I could dodge working with this person in future deals
Use it a bunch. We have a firm account and I use it to boil down CIMs and check my own decks for errors. Have even used it to do random data entry stuff. Tbh the work that it does is pretty questionable at times but I find it to be a pretty good search engine
As I experienced even chatGPT 4o is pretty prone to errors and its outputs are unreliable, how can you trust the summary of CIMs or even the feedback on your work?
I tried once with a document I updated where I forgot to update a bunch of notes and similar and it totally missed them…
