Double Major or Single Major w/personal learning

Hello. My current issue is whether or not to drop my economics major from my current Finance/Economics double major. I believe that most of what school has/will teach me is useless (or i can learn on my own) and I'll forget 90% of it. I would like to replace the time spent pursing the extra economics degree with self-education. This time would be spent on my current PE internship, reading, and exercising my ability to solve problems rather than download information into my head. However, everyone (including my boss) has recommended against doing so. I was wondering if anyone has done something similar to this, or if this makes sense to anyone. The arguments against me are that I'm young and may not know what I want to do in the future (meaning that the extra degree may open up extra doors). What are your thoughts?
