EIG Partners - Updated 2024 views

In a process with them and would love to hear updated views with respect to comp, culture, sector focus (traditional energy/ O&G focused but they mentioned pivoting towards renewables, not sure how true this is). Also have previously read on WSO that their returns have been poor but would love some color on this

Ah, you're in the mix with EIG Partners, huh? Swinging through the jungle of private equity can be quite the adventure. Let's see what we can dig up from the WSO treasure trove:

  1. Compensation: While I don't have the latest bananas—I mean numbers—on compensation for 2024, EIG has been known to offer competitive packages in line with industry standards. Keep in mind that PE compensation can vary widely based on fund performance, individual contribution, and market conditions.

  2. Culture: Culture is always a bit of a wild vine to swing from, as it can be quite subjective. However, the chatter on WSO suggests that EIG, like many other firms, has its mix of pros and cons. It's important to get a feel for the firm during your process and see if it aligns with your own work style and values.

  3. Sector Focus: Based on the most helpful WSO content, EIG has indeed been making a push towards renewables. This pivot seems to be in response to the global trend of transitioning towards more sustainable energy sources. However, traditional energy and oil & gas are still significant sectors for them.

  4. Performance: As for returns, it's a jungle out there, and past performance can be a tricky beast. While there have been murmurs of less-than-stellar returns in previous years, the private equity world is always evolving. It's best to approach this topic by looking at recent fund performance and market conditions, which can give you a better picture of their current standing.

Remember, when you're in the process with a firm like EIG, it's a golden opportunity to ask these questions directly to get the most current and accurate information. Good luck, and may your PE journey be as thrilling as a treetop canopy ride!
