Family office question

Hello guys,

I am currently an analyst in a tier 2/2.5 shop in consulting in Western Europe and I have an interview for an analyst position in a family office (also in Western Europe) next week. Since it's a FO it's hard to find any information on it online but I know that it has been in activity for more than 20 years.

  1. How's the recruitment process in general for a FO ? Is it like a classic fund/shop with multiple round of interviews with fit and technical questions or should I expect something else ?

  2. How are the exit opportunities ? I know that it will depends on the FO's quality but is it typical to transition to a classic PE fund later? Do people in a FO tend to stay in it ? How's the progression since they aren't a clean linear progression with analyst/associate/vp/... and in general not every position available?

  3. Any idea on the average comp with a FO ? middle-market PE comp level or lower ?

  4. Any advice for my first interview? It will be with the FO's managing director/president

Thanks in advance

I don't have any idea regarding the AUM. If what I found online is correct, I believe that they also do direct investments
