Fidelity (FMR) Equity Sector Specialist - PE Investments

Considering applying for the following role with Fidelity’s PE Investments team and I had a few questions below:

The sector specialist will report to the Head of Private Equity Investments. S/he will work closely with the Head, as well as with other members of the Private Equity team; playing a vital role in contributing to the investment performance of the firm. The sector specialist provides general research support to the Private Equity Group. Responsibilities include gathering important industry data, streamlining data collection and processing, and helping the team with various presentations. The sector specialist assists the Head with presentations for the Board of Directors, for senior management and for other various Fidelity groups on Private Equity trends, themes, and activity. The sector specialist will also assist Private Equity analysts with analysis, diligence and projects to support stock-specific presentations.

The ideal candidate should have a demonstrated leadership/initiative in studies/extracurricular activities as well as an academic/intellectual interest in venture capital/private investing markets. S/he should possess excellent communication, presentation and writing skills and be able to clearly articulate research findings. This role requires someone who is hard working, hungry to learn and achievement- and results-oriented.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates who have the following characteristics:

Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem solving skills The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with multiple analysts The ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous projects Experience in sourcing, manipulating and presenting data Strong Microsoft Excel skills including macros and an aptitude for technology Strong Powerpoint and presentation skills Experience with Bloomberg and FactSet Demonstrated experience/interest/skill in quantitative analysis and research The ability to work with external information sources (analysts, companies, consultants)

  1. How does this differ from traditional PE/VC analyst roles?
  2. Does anyone have any interview advice/prep materials they suggest?
  3. What do they usually ask in general interviews?
  4. Thoughts on the role itself/potential exit opps in case I wanted to pivot to something else?
  5. Has anyone gone through the process of interviewing for sector specialist roles at Fidelity? If so, how was the overall experience?
  6. What would potential comp look like for a role such as this?

Thanks in advance!!
