Fund Finance - Private Equity
Hi everyone,
I had a recruiter reach out about a role with a PE/VC firm’s fund finance team.
Does anyone know what these teams typically do and what the exit opps are?

I am not 100% clear.
If it is an investing role then it sounds like providing credit facilities (eg allowing funds to borrow against LP commitments)
If it’s a non investing role then maybe that’s the finance function eg manage cash flow, reporting etc?
I believe it’s the latter (managing cash flows and reporting) since it’s an analyst role. Do you know what the career progression/exit opps look like for a role like this?
I’d imagine more senior people on the fund finance team deals with credit facilities etc, which really interests me, but I’m not 100%.
I think within the firm, you would progress to CFO. LP reporting requirements continue to increase beyond just the financials. I don’t have anything more specific.
Potential exit paths could be data or reporting roles in LPs/FoFs.
Awesome. Do you know much about data roles at LPs/FoFs? Are they more portfolio analytics type roles?
Some aspects of a data and reporting role would include:
Lots of challenges as you can imagine between structured public data and unstructured private data, dealing with FX adjustments, meeting regulatory and compliance requirements (eg for pension funds).
In addition, trying to build tools/reports to help investment teams self serve what they need rather than continually asking for bespoke analysis.
